Looking Back: 2006 Seminar
2006 National Planned Giving Council Seminar Featured Internationally Known Speaker James E. Hughes Jr.
The first annual National Planned Giving Council Seminar was held on September 28 and 29, 2006, at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Attendees were blessed to hear from keynote speaker James E. Hughes Jr. Mr. Hughes is an internationally known philosopher of the family and the author of Family Wealth: Keeping It in the Family. He has also spoken at international and domestic symposia on estate and trust planning.
Mr. Hughes’s address at the Thursday luncheon and subsequent workshop inspired many of those in attendance to further consider the role of the family elders in perpetuating the family legacy, the necessity of encouraging upcoming generations to find their dreams, and the role of the serving professional.
The seminar also featured the following speakers:
- Elder John K. Carmack, Managing Director of the Perpetual Education Fund
- Eric B. Shumway, President of Brigham Young University-Hawaii
- Kim B. Clark, President of Brigham Young University-Idaho
In addition to hearing from these remarkable individuals, attendees learned during the chairmen's breakfast that Marc Bohn of Phoenix, Arizona, would be the new national chairman. Mr. Bohn is the top estate planning attorney with the firm of Snell and Wilmer.
The first annual National Planned Giving Council Seminar proved to be an uplifting and memorable event.
