Lee-Hausner-(Web)Dr. Lee Hausner

 

Dr. Lee Hausner is co-founder and President of IFF Advisors, Inc., and National Director of IFF’s Family Consulting Services. An internationally recognized clinical psychologist and business consultant, she served as the senior psychologist for the Beverly Hills Unified School District for 19 years (during which time she co-authored Homework Without Tears...A Parent’s Guide to Motivating Children to do Homework and Succeed in School). In addition, she has established a reputation as a well-regarded keynote speaker and seminar leader. She has been a highly-rated resource to YPO, WPO and CEO for the past 15 years.

 

 

A frequent guest on national radio and television, quoted expert in national publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Time, Forbes, Fortune, Town and Country, Privilege, The Robb Report and a contributing writer for Worth magazine, she is the author of the seminal work regarding wealth and the family, Children of Paradise…Successful Parenting for Prosperous Families. 

 

 

An acknowledged expert on psychological issues involving wealth and wealth transfer, she was a presenter at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and is a frequent participant at the high wealth/private client conferences for major financial institutions as well as national estate planning conferences. Dr. Hausner contributed two chapters (“The Psychology of Wealth” and “Wealth and Children”) to the financial resource book, The Stewardship of Private Wealth…Managing Personal and Family Financial Assets and co-authored with her partner, Douglas Freeman, A Founder’s Guide to the Family Foundation.

 

 

Recognizing the need for a multidisciplinary approach to the complex issues involved in operating a family business, Dr. Hausner co-founded one of the leading nationally recognized consulting groups dealing with the unique problems confronting families involved in a family business and/or families of wealth. Dr. Hausner incorporated a unique six-step transition model for succession in family business in the critically acclaimed family business resource book, Hats Off To You 2…Balancing Roles and Creating Success in Family Business.

Brent AndrewsenBrent A. Andrewsen

Brent A. Andrewsen is a shareholder and is the chair of Kirton & McConkie, P.C.'s Corporate and Tax Section. His practice includes estate planning, probate and trust administration, gift taxation, tax-exempt organizations, charitable trusts and foundations. Mr. Andrewsen consults and assists clients with the formation, organization and qualification with the Internal Revenue Service of charitable tax-exempt organizations, both public charities and private foundations. He also assists such charitable organizations with their planned giving and other tax and organizational legal issues. He earned his B.A. degree from Brigham Young University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Washington & Lee University Law School. He is a member of the Utah State Bar Association, the Utah Valley and the Salt Lake Estate Planning Councils, and is the immediate past Chair of the Nonprofit Section of the Utah State Bar.

 

Douglas B. BohneDouglas B. Bohne

Douglas B. Bohne is an attorney who emphasizes business, charitable, and estate planning, estate administration, probate, and taxation. He is a California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law and also served on various local and state wide estate related commissions. Mr. Bohne has a degree in accounting from the University of Utah (1980) and his law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (1983).

 

 

 

Jerry BorrowmanJerry Borrowman 

Jerry Borrowman, CAP, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, MSFS, is the vice-president of Advanced Markets and Professional Development of Beneficial Financial Group. Jerry started his career in 1978 as an agent for New York Life Insurance Company in Pocatello, Idaho, shortly after graduating from Idaho State University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Since then he has worked as a sales manager, trainer, and assistant vice-president in Field Technology. He also completed a number of projects for New York Life International, traveling to Argentina, India, and Hong Kong. Mr. Borrowman joined Beneficial Financial Group in March 2002 where he and his team members support agents in advanced case design, agent software, and illustrations. He holds the Masters of Science, Financial Services degree from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and recently completed course requirements for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) designation. He was elected an officer in June 2007. Jerry currently serves as national chair of the IMPACT Political Action Committee of AALU (Association for Advanced Life Underwriting) and as chair of the Content Committee on the national advisory board of the Alumni Association of The American College. He is also an active member of NAIFA serving as local chairman of the Political Action Committee. Mr. Borrowman has written numerous articles in industry publications, including: The Journal of the American Society of Financial Services Professionals, Life Insurance News, and Planned Gifts Counselor. He has also authored a number of industry and non-industry books including. He and his wife, Marcella, live in Sandy, Utah, and are the parents of four children and one granddaughter.

 

President ClarkPresident Kim B. Clark

President Kim B. Clark became the 15th president of Brigham Young University Idaho in August 2005. In April 2007, he was named a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President Clark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised in Spokane, Washington. After serving as a missionary for the Church in Germany, he married his wife Sue in 1971. President Clark earned bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in economics from Harvard University. In 1978 President Clark became a member of the faculty at the Harvard Business School and was named the dean of the school in 1995. He served in that capacity until he became president of BYU–Idaho in 2005. President Clark and his wife Sue are the parents of 7 children and the grandparents of 12 grandchildren.

 

Perry CochellPerry Cochell

Perry L. Cochell was appointed to the position of National Senior Endowment Counsel, National Boy Scouts of America Foundation on October 16, 2006. Perry began his career with the Boy Scouts of America in September 1994 in the position of Associate Regional Director/Senior Endowment Counsel, Western Region. In this capacity, Perry has supported council professionals and volunteers in the development and implementation of endowment programs. He has provided technical expertise in all areas of tax for current and deferred gifts to councils. Perry earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Willamette University, College of Law in Salem, Oregon. He completed his graduate studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Perry has practiced in the areas of business, benefits, and trusts and estates tax law. In addition to private law, Perry also was employed as Professor at the Scottsdale University of Law in Arizona. He is also co-founder, director and senior faculty instructor for The Heritage Institute, an organization that instructs CPAs, attorneys, and financial advisors on advanced planning strategies. Perry is a Certified Wealth Consultant with The Heritage Institute and has counseled 39 affluent families with estates each in excess of $800 million. He is also co-author of the book Beating the Midas Curse. Perry and his wife, Karen, have three daughters and two sons.

 

Paul ComstockPaul Comstock

Paul Comstock is the founder of Paul Comstock Partners and has provided strategic investment counsel to families for over 35 years. He has been recognized over the years by the financial media, professional organizations, and legislators as an expert resource for investment organization and implementation strategies regarding families and their private and public supported philanthropic entities. Paul is past President of the National Committee on Planned Giving and is currently a member of the Ethics Committee among many other prestigious boards of directors internationally. Paul, and his daughter, Alison Moss, were the 2007 National Planned Giving Council Seminar Keynote Speakers.

 

 

  

Calvin C. CurtisCalvin Curtis

Calvin C. Curtis is an attorney specializing in elder law and estate planning issues. He has BS and JD degrees from the University of Utah, and an LL.M in tax law from Georgetown University. Cal has been quoted in Utah Business magazine and The Enterprise, and has appeared on Good Things Utah. In 2004 through 2008, he was recognized in Utah Business as one of Utah's Legal Elite. Earlier this year he was selected for inclusion in Mountain States Super Lawyers. Cal is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Special Needs Alliance. He has served on the Planned Giving Committee of the University of Utah, and as chair of the board of Easter Seals Utah, 2001-2002.

 

Richard GreeneRichard Greene

Richard N. Greene, CPA, is a certified public accountant and managing member of the Salt Lake City CPA firm of Savas Greene & Company, LLC. He is engaged in general tax practice and handles planning and controversial issues involving International, U.S. federal and state taxation for individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLCs and tax exempt organizations. In particular, he advises owners of closely-held business entities in terms of compliance, formation, acquisition, distributions, and related estate planning matters. He also consults with clients regarding succession panning and related wealth transfer issues.

Dr. Richard HolzapfelDr. Richard Holzapfel

Dr. Richard Neitzel Holzapfel is the Publication Director of the Religious Studies Center and Professor of Church History and Doctrine. Dr. Holzapfel studied at BYU, Hebrew Union College and the University of California Irvine, where he received his Ph.D. in History. He is married to Jeni Broberg Holzapfel. They are the parents of five children and welcomed to their family their first grandchild this year. They currently reside in Hobble Creek Canyon.

 

 

 

 

 

Raeburn KennardRaeburn G. Kennard

Raeburn G. Kennard, attorney, has worked with Kirton & McConkie in Salt Lake City for over 34 years. During his extensive career, he has served as the a member of the board of directors and executive committee; the principal attorney responsible for obtaining tax exemption for dozens of charitable organizations; counsel to broad range of charitable organizations regarding exempt status, charitable giving, administration of charitable trusts, unrelated business income tax; counsel in litigation against IRS on landmark charitable contribution cases; and a lecturer to the Utah State Bar, Utah Association of CPAs, and other local and national groups on estate planning, exempt organizations, and charitable giving topics.

 

 

 

David MooreDavid G. Moore

David G. Moore is the chairman and president/CEO of Deseret Trust Company. He has been with Deseret Trust Company since 2004. Prior to joining Deseret Trust Company, he worked in trust, private banking, and retail banking for two national banks with offices in Utah. He served as senior vice president, senior trust officer, and regional trust manager at these institutions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

President Von D. OrgillPresident Von D. Orgill

President Von D. Orgill is originally from Grantsville, Utah. He served a mission in Tonga, attended Brigham Young University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Master's Degree in Organizational Behavior. He worked with Arthur Andersen and Co. in Los Angeles, California, with IBM in Virginia, Maryland, and New York, operated a consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. area, and was in charge of Franklin Covey's Professional Services Group in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has been the President and CEO of the Polynesian Cultural Center for over eight years. In the Church, he has served as bishop, a counselor in two mission presidencies and currently serves as President of the BYU-Hawaii 3rd Stake. Von has been married to Sherri Ketchum for 35 years. They are parents of seven children and ten grandchildren.

 

Ken PackerKen Packer

Ken Packer has served as the Museum's exhibits designer since 1979. Ken chairs the Museum Exhibits Committee and is a member of the Education Committee, the Museum Executive Committee, and the Museum Gift Committee. He oversees all aspects of the exhibit design and implementation process. Ken also provides general oversight for the operation of the Lytle Preserve. Ken Packer received his MS in Education Administration and a BA from Brigham Young University in 1986 and 1975 respectively. Ken has entered his own artwork in various shows and competitions and has won numerous awards.

 

 

Dr. Daniel C. PetersonDr. Daniel C. Peterson

Dr. Daniel C. Peterson is professor of Islamic Studies and Arabic in the Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages at Brigham Young University and currently serves as editor-in-chief of BYU's Middle Eastern Texts Initiative. He is a member of the executive council of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship at Brigham Young University. He received a bachelor's degree in Greek and philosophy from BYU and, after several years of study in Jerusalem and Cairo, earned his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is the executive editor of BYU's three-part Middle Eastern Texts Initiative—including the Islamic Translation Series, the Graeco-Arabic Sciences and Philosophy series, and the Eastern Christian Texts series. He is the author of several books and numerous articles on Islamic and Latter-day Saint topics. Dr. Peterson is married to the former Deborah Stephens, of Lakewood, Colorado, and they are the parents of three sons.

 

Larry St. ClairDr. Larry St. Clair

Dr. Larry St. Clair has served as the director of the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum since 2006. He coordinates and oversees the educational and research initiatives of the Museum. As director, he also has oversight responsibility for the Museum's budgets and endowments, supervises all Museum employees, shares the vision of the Museum with our stakeholders, while working closely with College and University administrators. He also serves as Curator of Nonvascular Cryptogams – a collection containing more than 100,000 specimens. Larry graduated from the University of Colorado in 1984 with a PhD in Botany (emphasis in lichen taxonomy, ecology, and air pollution biomonitoring). He received both his BS and MS degrees from BYU in 1974 and 1975, respectively. Larry is also professor of biology and has taught a variety of life-science-related courses since coming to BYU in 1976. He has written or edited several books and publishes broadly in peer-reviewed journals. He has also received numerous awards for his research and teaching.

 

 

Sterling Van WagenenSterling Van Wagenen

As a member of BYU Broadcasting's (BYUB) Executive Management Team, Sterling Van Wagenen is the Director of Content and Media Integration and assists with the oversight of 75 full-time professionals and approximately 200 part-time student employees. BYU Broadcasting comprises seven television stations, four radio stations and over a dozen Internet websites including over 15,000 pages of content and over 3,000 downloadable mp3 files. Sterling oversees content acquisition and creation for all of BYU Broadcasting as well as BYUB's collaboration with the three campuses of BYU in Provo, Laie, and Rexburg and dozens of independent producers, as well as the student mentoring agenda for BYU Broadcasting. Sterling was the co-founder of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and in association with Robert Redford, was the founding executive director of the Sundance Institute. Sterling's directing and producing credits include the Academy Award winning feature film "The Trip to Bountiful." As a director he has staged numerous productions and directed television and film projects including parts 2 and 3 of "The Work and Glory" trilogy. Sterling is a BYU graduate. He is married to Marilee Jeppson. They have six children and eight grandchildren.

 

 

President Steven C. WheelwrightPresident Steven C. Wheelwright

Dr. Steven C. Wheelwright, the Edsel Bryant Ford Professor of Business Administration, Emeritus at Harvard Business School, became the ninth president of Brigham Young University Hawaii on June 23, 2007. Called by President Gordon B. Hinckley to preside over Brigham Young University Hawaii, he and the university have been charged to continue to improve the quality of the education delivered and efficiently utilize the resources of the Church in order to bless the lives of as many students as possible, particularly the young men and women from Asia and the Pacific. President Wheelwright regularly reports to the Commissioner of the Church Educational System, Dr. W. Rolfe Kerr, and the CES Board of Trustees, which includes the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is a former senior associate dean of the Harvard Business School's MBA program, a Baker Foundation professor and senior associate dean and director of Harvard Business School's publication activities. His research and experience have given him a world-recognized expertise in solving complex managerial problems and foreseeing future business trends. He has written several books with colleagues including, “Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation”, 4th ed.; “Operations, Strategy, and Technology – Pursuing the Competitive Edge”; and “Dynamic Manufacturing: Creating the Learning Organization”. Following his retirement from Harvard, he and his wife, Margaret, presided over the London, England Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and then as service missionaries at BYU-Idaho. President Wheelwright grew up in Salt Lake City and is a cowboy at heart. He has owned a cattle ranch, and currently keeps horses and cattle at his Oakley, Utah home. He and Margaret are the parents of 5 children and 15 grandchildren.
